Daly City
Welcome to Daly City,
The largest city in San Mateo County with a population of around 107,000 and covering 7.7 square miles, it’s known for its hilly terrain and scenic vistas of the Pacific Ocean.
The city's modern history began in the late 19th century, when John Daly, a businessman from San Francisco, purchased a large portion of the Rancho Buri Buri land grant and began developing it as a residential suburb. The area was initially known as "Daly's Hill" and was marketed as a picturesque retreat from the city. In 1906, the area was incorporated into the city of Daly City.
Today, Daly City is also known for its excellent public transportation system, which includes several BART stations and a variety of bus routes. It is also home to several parks, and recreational facilities, including the Cow Palace Arena and Westlake Shopping Center.
